Birds of Change Exchange

I'm participating in this exchange organised by Regina from Creative Kismet and already created some birds to send out.

Ik doe mee aan een "vogel-swap" georganiseerd door Regina van Creative Kismet en heb ook al een aantal vogel-ornamenten gemaakt om te versturen.

Ofcourse I used leftover materials like a cardboard box, a paper shopping bag that not only had white but also gold parts, a bit of vintage wallpaper, rope and some blue and green feathers I bought years ago and instead of glue-ing it all together I actually sewed so of the parts together.

Natuurlijk heb ik hier "waardeloze" materialen voor gebruikt zoals de door van ontbijtgranen, een papieren boodschappentas met zowel goude als witte delen, een stukje oud behang, touw en wat gekleurde veren die ik al een aantal jaar in huis heb. En in plaats van het hele boeltje in elkaar te lijmen heb ik hiervoor mijn naaimachine gebruikt.

Christmas swaps - part one

About two years ago I also participated in a christmas ornament swap organised by Amy and I thought it was a lot of fun. Not only she organised the ornament-swap but you also could join in with a christmas ATC swap as well and so I did. I received my ornaments and ATC's in hospital where I was due to a biking accident and that really brighten my day back then.

Last year I didn't participate in any swaps at all, probably because I was too much into lampworking to be interested in swaps that didn't involve glass. But this year I thought it would be nice to do a bit of christmas-swapping again and so I joined in with Amy's ornament and ATC-swap. I'm still working on the ornaments but today I already finished my ATC's:

I also joined the Holiday Ornament Swap from Cake&Pie because one can never have enough handmade ornaments ;)

I started working on an idea I had today, but haven't finished it because it took way too much time. Mind you I have to make a total of 15 ornaments, so I need my ornament to be beautiful and easy to make at the same time. So back to the drawing table it is...

Kleurpotloden

De laatste dagen heb ik de kleurpotloden weer eens ontdekt en ben daarmee gaan experimenteren. Kleuren combineren die ik voorheen niet zo snel zou gebruiken voor bepaalde zaken, zoals groen, blauw en paars in het gezicht. Eigenlijk raar dat ik dat nooit geprobeert heb want als je goed naar een gezicht kijkt zie je ook in het echt dat deze kleuren daarin aanwezig zijn...

The last few days I rediscovered my coloring pencils again and started experimenting. I combined colors in ways I would not before like green , blue and purple in a face. Actually strange I never did before because when you look well you would see those colors in face in real life also...

Bloemenmeisje

Nog een weekje en dan start officieel de lente, het weer doet in ieder geval nu al flink zijn best. Ik raak ook al helemaal in voorjaarstemming!

Next week it will be officially springtime in our part of the world. The weather already is giving it's best and I'm starting to feel really "springy"

Stiksels

Wat een beetje verstelwerk al niet te weeg kan brengen. Vandaag moest ik wat broeken repareren en kreeg vervolgens zin om eens uit te proberen of ik ook kon "tekenen" met mijn naaimachine. Dit is mijn tweede probeersel.

Helaas geniet ik nog steeds van een gedwongen rustperiode. Voorlopig mag ik de komende weken ook nog niet op mijn voet staan. Daarbij wordt ik er ook niet vrolijker van om langer dan een uur achter de computer te zitten aangezien ik daardoor meer last van mijn heup krijg en ook mijn voet door het zwellen een stuk pijnlijker wordt.

Alhoewel ik ook niet erg lang achter mijn naaimachine kan zitten is dit wel een leuke afwisseling, dus voorlopig blijft hij nog maar even op tafel staan!

Ode to the Muse

Ik geef een Photoshopcursus op de Volksuniversiteit. De laatste les ging over het maken van eigen patronen en penselen, het downloaden van andermans penselen en het gebruik daarvan. Deze illustratie is een voorbeeld hiervoor.

In this weeks class I was planning to give instructions on how to design your own brushes and patterns for Photoshop and how to use the ones you made and downloaded to create your own art. This is one of my examples

Doggie Swapcard

I made 10 of these for the New Years Postcard Swap. Was nice to do some mixed media again! Go check and see Myra's doggiestamp it's absolutely adorable!

Tonight I'm of to see a musical at tmy kids school and promised myself to go straight to bed afterwards and not stay behind my computer past midnight for a change.

Busy Bee...uhm Sheep...uhm Girl...

Did I mention I'm in the middle of starting my own business? Well I am .

It's going to be a designstudio for web and graphic design and I'm also going to design needlefelt packages wich will be available trough creative courses and a webshop.

At this point I'm in the middle of designing my business website. I am making a banner wich will be used for the website as well as the webshop and the little animation above will be part of that. I wanted it to be in a graphical style with a wink at living in Holland and working with wool. So a windmill and sheep would cover that don't you think? Ofcourse I could also add some wooden shoes, but let's not go over the top....;0)

Stitch and Bitch

Last week I made this spread in my creative diary. Inspiration came from joining the new Stitch and Bitch group Haarlem. We already have had a first meeting last week last wednesdayevening in Anne & Max. It was very nice to meet the other girls. We talked about knittingpatterns, yarn, suppliers and life in general ;0).

More ladies already joined the group. So if you are a knitter, male or female doesn't matter and are living in the Haarlem area ...come on in we like you to join us. Help us to show the dutch people knitting isn't something you granny was doing. It's cool and fun!
