A few days ago I finally finished my swap ornaments and send them out to all participants. I made these small stockings.
I like to recycle or use whatever I have lying around, so for my ornaments I used a leftover piece of oilcloth, an old brown envelope, a bit of netting from a mandarine crate, a small piece of red felt, 2 different ribbons I bought at a christmas sale last year and small beige buttons from my button stash.
I made a little tutorial if you are interested in making some yourself, To make my little christmas stockings you can use whatever you prefer like felt, linen, cotton or even paper.
Save the template below (right click and use save picture as to save it to your harddrive). Print and cut out all pieces.

Cut all necessary parts out of the materials you are going to use twice. Be sure to cute out the second part flipped so you will have a front and back part. Also cut 2 pieces of ribbon, one should be twice the width of the stocking and the other about 10 cm.
Start sewing the nose and heel parts upon the sock with a straight stitch.
Sew one of the ribbons on both parths of the stocking as showed below, the back sides of the stocking should meet in the middle of the ribbon.
Place a colored circle and a button on top of the ribbon on one part and attach with a zigzag. Place another one on the the other part and attach.
This is what is should look like at this stage:
Cut of all excess threads, fold the second ribbon to get a loop.
Place the ribbon at the backside of the stocking
fold the other side so the ribbon will be in between.
Sew both sides together using a zigzag-stitch and attach the loopin the same time. Make sure you secure the start- and endpoint by sewing back and forth.

Wat een gave tutorial Marieke! Ik ga hem zeker opslaan en een keertje maken. Vind je sokjes ontzettend lief en leuk geworden. Maar lees ik nu goed dat je er ook papier voor hebt gebruikt? (enveloppen?)

Ja Dorith, ik bewaar en gebruik altijd van alles. Ik ben gek op recyclen en had dus ook nog een stuk bruine envelop liggen wat ik voor de teen en hielstukjes heb gebruikt.

leuk zeg!! Ik wist niet dat je ook door papier heen kunt naaien met de naaimachine!
