A fresh start

I needed to update my Movable Type installation and since I'm all into content management systems and MySgl databases at the moment, I thought I would use the MySql database function of MT instead of the static Berkely database and make my weblog a bit more dynamic. Only problem is the new MT needs a database-driver wich my provider hasn't installed yet and is sceduled mid next year. So I guess I have to be patient.

I also wanted to clean-up. My webspace was very cluttered, because of the combination MT with Berkely. It made lots and lots of static HTML pages and most of it wasn't even in use because of changes and so. That's why I desided not to upload my back-up but to make a total new and fresh start instead.

Stitch and Bitch

spread_knit.jpg

Last week I made this spread in my creative diary. Inspiration came from joining the new Stitch and Bitch group Haarlem. We already have had a first meeting last week last wednesdayevening in Anne & Max. It was very nice to meet the other girls. We talked about knittingpatterns, yarn, suppliers and life in general ;0).

More ladies already joined the group. So if you are a knitter, male or female doesn't matter and are living in the Haarlem area ...come on in we like you to join us. Help us to show the dutch people knitting isn't something you granny was doing. It's cool and fun!

Secret Pal 6

sp6.jpg
Last week I received a package from my secret pal filled with lots of wonderful goodies. I was very happy with the yummie yarn, the wonderful smelling pencil and the flowerpin, but I must say the little sheep in the middle actually made my day. It is a measuring tool wich not only shows cm but inches as well and that's what I wanted to have for a long time!

Weekly Reports [01]

A couple of weeks went by without me writing, so here are some highlights from the last couple of weeks:

First of all me and Albert had our 20 years - weddinganniversity last week. It's almost unbelievable... time really did fly by and since we're still very happy together I'm counting on at least twenty years more ;0) We didn't have big celebrations but both took a week of from work to spent time together and went out one night to have a lovely dinner at Grand Cafe Nobel.

I already have given several courses about HTML, Dreamweaver and Photoshop at the adult education centre and must say I really enjoyed doing it. It's not only nice to know I'm capable of teaching others but during the process I learned a lot myself too!

I've also send out my first official offer for making a commercial website but haven't got an answer back yet, so I'm keeping my fingers crossed. In the meantime I'm in the middle of designing my own commercial website and redesigning this blog so I don't have to be affraid there's nothing to do keep me busy for now.

I haven't finished my felted Santa yet but I did manage to make some new pincushions but more about that tomorrow. I'm also in the middle of knitting Birch with my all time favourate kid silk Haze from Rowan.

Knitting time

There's still a lot of work going on here at the moment. I want this site not only to be a journal but also some kind of gallery of my feltwork. And since there was a lot of questioning about it...yes in near future I hope to put some of the "pincushions" up for sale.

So if you are interested in buying one of my needlefelt "pincushions" in future, just leave a comment and I will give you notice when I'm ready to sell some of them. Ofcourse it would have been nice if I did it before Christmas but I'm affraid that's not going to happen, sorry :0\ I still have to figure out what's the best way. Using this site or put them on E-bay or something.....

breiblauw.jpg
Sometimes I just need to take a break of work, my computer and sometimes even my needlefelt and that's when I knit. I somehow have difficulties doing nothing and knitting makes me feel really relaxed. The picture shows some of the projects that are in progress at the moment. I'm knitting Birch from Rowan with my all time favorite Kid Silk Haze. The other project are the cascading leaves socks using a pattern from a sockknitting group, but those aren't in progress anymore since I finished them today.

Marjolein started borrowing my knitted striped scarve, obviously she likes it so that's OK. But since it's getting colder I also need a scarve and because I like striped ones too I thought it would be nice idea to knit a new one for myself . So I ordered some NORO at Wolhalla, since it makes such beautiful stripes. Today it came and I already started knitting a bit, can't help myself I'm affraid ;0)
