Remember I was telling you about designing a new softie for a book that was planned to be published by Penguin Australia back here? Well finally I'm able to reveil what kind of softie I've designed because the book arrived today. The request was to design a softie that could be handsewn by children so meet my "fred the cat". He can be found on page 45 of SIMPLE SOFTIES for the whole family.

Weet je nog dat ik een tijdje geleden schreef over het feit dat ik wederom een knuffel mocht ontwerpen voor een nieuw boek van Penguin Australië. Nou vandaag kan ik eindelijk laten zien wat ik ontworpen heb, want het boek lag vanochtend op mijn deurmat. Het verzoek was om een knuffel te ontwerpen die met de hand gemaakt kon worden door kinderen en dus maak kennis met Fred de kat. Hij staat op pagina 45 van dit engelstalige patronenboek: SIMPLE SOFTIES for the whole family.

I received a message from Tari of Pearl and Pebble to tell me I have won the lovely pair of earrings being her Surprise Giveaway for the beadsoup-party. I can honestly say normally I'm not so lucky with draws, so this really must have been my lucky day!

Vandaag kreeg ik een berichtje van Tari, eigenaar van de blog Pearl and Pebble waarin ze mij vertelde dat ik een prachtige set met oorhangers gewonnen heb, haar Surprise Giveaway voor the beadsoup-party. Aangezien ik eigenlijk nooit wat win met loterijen, moet ik concluderen dat het vandaag blijkbaar mijn geluksdag is!

Well I asked my daughter for help again and so she picked the winner of the Beadsoup giveaway out of the basket filled with little papers with names of the participators. And although I was more than happy to send the beads to the other side of the great pond, the winnar of my beadsoup turned out to be a Dutch girl... Carolien. Because I already made an appointment weeks ago to go and visite her in about two weeks, it's even going to be a personal delivery this time ;)

Opnieuw heb ik dochterlief's hulp ingeroepen, nu om de winnaar uit het bakje vol papiertjes met namen van deelnemers te vissen. En hoewel dat het geen enkel probleem was geweest om kralen naar de andere kant van de aardbol te sturen, is de winnaar van mijn "beadsoup" een nederlandse... Carolien om precies te zijn. Aangezien ik over een week of twee bij haar op bezoek zou gaan, wordt de "soup" ook nog eens persoonlijk "uitgeserveert!"

It is sad but the Beadsoup Party is over and although I haven't be able to visit all participators yet I will be soon! A special thanks to Lori for being a wonderful partyhost!

Helaas is er weer een einde gekomen aan de Beadsoup Party. Het is me nog niet gelukt om alle blogs te bezoeken, maar dat gaat vast nog wel een keertje lukken. Wel nog even een extra bedankje voor Lori die de boel zo fijn georganiseerd heeft!

Today it's my turn to show my creation and boy let me tell you I really had a hard time to come up with something to do my beadsoup from Stefanie justice. I even had to ask my daughter for help because I simply couldn't make a final decision what to make. We decided to go for a bit of a Gypsy-look. I recently bought some lovely waxed linen in a dark brown color and used that to wrap around the sari-silk attaching the beads and clasp. It turned out to be something completely different from what I would normally make, but I really like the result and so does my daughter. I think there is a strong possibility I have to share this bracelet with my sweet daughter!

Vandaag is het mijn beurt om te laten zien wat ik met mijn beadsoup van Stefanie gemaakt heb. Dat was nog helemaal niet zo makkelijk sterker nog het koste me flink moeite om iets te bedenken dat de mooie materialen zou laten uitkomen. Uiteindelijk heb ik ook mijn dochters hulp ingeroepen om een keuze te maken. We besloten om het een beetje in de "zigeunerlook" te zoeken. Nu heb ik kortgeleden een heel mooie dunne gewaxt linnen in een donkerbruine tint gekocht, die heb ik gebruikt om de sari-silk te omwikkelen en gelijktijdig de kralen en sluiting vast te maken. Het resultaat is een armband die ik anders nooit gemaakt zou hebben en waarvan ik bijna zeker weet dat ik hem moet delen met dochterlief!
